Do I need a veterinary surgeon to complete my passport application form?
Yes. A Veterinary Surgeon must microchip the horse (or verify the existence of a microchip implanted previously).
The completion of the silhouette is no longer mandatory (other than the vet drawing an M where the chip is implanted in the neck and any brands on the horse). However we do recommend that whilst the vet is visiting you take the opportunity to have the silhouette completed as it is a good secondary means of identification if a scanner is not available.
